Deadliest Catch Deaths: Tragic Death of Cast and Crew Members

On June 13, 2024, Deadliest Catch alum and former Northwestern deckhand Nick Mavar died of natural causes in Naknek, AK, Bristol. His tragic death reminds us of commercial fishermen who head out into the Bering Sea during crab season. They regularly put their lives on the line to do the most dangerous job amid stormy and impulsive waters off the coast of Alaska.

First premiered in 2005, the Deadliest Catch reality show trails crab fisherman’s high risks of their work during the fishing seasons. Discovery Channel’s audience absolutely loves it. Wretchedly, many cast and crew members of the show have passed away over the year due to work-related accidents, health issues, or addiction issues.
