Sam Kelly-Cohen, known professionally as Kayko, is an American singer who gained attention with his mesmerizing performance in the audition of the 22nd season of American Idol. Kelly-Cohen is an accidental American Idol contestant who got a golden ticket through the audition. Sam calls himself an “Alt-Pop Music Boy that makes Happy Songs out of Sad Words.”
Sam is a North Broward Preparatory School graduate, who originally only came to accompany his friend Abby Blake’s audition on the piano. Surprisingly, the judges asked Sam to sing an original song called “Time of Your Life,” recorded by his band Kayko. Colton Dixon and Laine Hardy were the other two contestants who had been selected for the next round and did not want to audition initially.
